Dates Outside the Box

Whether you only have an hour or an entire afternoon to devote to your next date, there's always something fun to do just around the corner. Here are three new and interesting date ideas that you might not have otherwise considered. Get ready to think outside of the box and have fun!
1) Hiking Trip
Even if your closest friends wouldn't exactly call you "the outdoorsy type", a mini-hike might still be for you. Lace up your most comfortable shoes, throw on a fleece sweatshirt and you'll be ready to go. Keep in mind that it can get chilly in the woods, so be sure to dress accordingly. There are definitely a few essentials that will help turn this from an aerobic outing into a romantic one in no time.
First, head to the market and pack yourself a light picnic for two. Fresh fruit, cheese, and crackers should do the trick. If you feel so inclined, go ahead and bring a nice bottle of wine along. Pickup a couple of disposable wine glasses for a little added flair and get ready to toast your sweetheart. Bring along a deck of cards in case the mood strikes for a few rounds of poker. Lastly don’t forget to bring a blanket on which to spread out, relax, and enjoy the afternoon.
2) Wine Tasting
There are so many beautiful vineyards across the coasts from California to Virginia, you’re bound to find one near you. Check your map because it might require a few hours spent in the car, but that’s just more time to get to know each other better.
Most vineyards offer everything from full day tours of their facilities to quick wine tastings and samplings at their on-site bars. You could even make a day of it by sticking around for a light lunch or dinner in the surrounding area. If you find that you aren’t actually within driving distance of any vineyards, there just may be another option close to home.
Many restaurants offer what are commonly referred to as “wine flights.” As an alternative to a regular 6 oz. glass, they offer you three 2 oz. pours instead. That way you can easily sample their new wines at once. Take notes, because you just might find a new favorite.
3) Dance Classes
Why wait for a special occasion (like your own wedding) to learn a few dance moves? Now is the best time to put on your dancing shoes and get on out there. If your date is interested, sign yourselves up for a beginner’s dance class for couples. Try salsa, ballroom or anything that strikes your fancy. Don't be nervous about making mistakes in front of all the other people. Keep in mind that they are in the very same boat as you. Hopefully, you're all there with the common goal of having fun.
As the teacher guides you both along, pay attention to your partner’s moves and try to follow their rhythm. This will help you to get in tune with your date which will benefit both of you in the long run. Once you’ve established a comfort zone, you'll be good to go on your own. Take those newly acquired skills out on the town with you for a night that's sure to be sizzling!
