Make MySpace.com Work for You

If you feel like you’ve tried just about every online dating site and haven’t really had much success, it might be time to start thinking outside of the box. The good news is that you don’t even have to leave your comfortable couch to do it. All you need is internet access and some creativity. Posting a profile on MySpace.com can do more than just help you to connect with your friends and old classmates. It just might help you to land your next date.
Step One: Write yourself a great online profile. Think of your MySpace profile as your chance to really show your potential dates what you’re about. Don’t be afraid to go ahead and tell it like it is either. If you truly favor museums and classic films over rock climbing and bungee jumping, make sure to say it. That way, you’ll be sure to attract someone with similar interests to yours.
Step Two: Include a variety of photographs. No matter what anyone tells you, this may very well be one of the most important steps involved. Posting a photo can significantly increase your chances of being contacted. Most people will scan the site looking for great photos and interesting profiles. Why not include a few fun shots of you and your friends? Your potential date will be able to see all the different and exciting sides of you.
Step Three: Attach music files to your page. MySpace allows users to highlight their favorite types of music directly on their profile page. Change up your theme song as often as you like based on your mood that day. If you really love country music, and if you attach the right song, you just might catch the eye of a big Tim McGraw fan. If classical music is more your speed, post some Beethoven and see what happens.
Step Four: Get creative with the layout of your page. The overall design of your MySpace page should be an accurate reflection of who you are. The tech folks provide you with all the necessary tools to design the wallpaper (background) and surrounding borders for your page. Use your creativity to design the photo layout so that you can draw attention from the right people.
Step Five: Get the word out about your MySpace profile. Use your profile and your account at MySpace.com as your very own personal calling card. If you’re feeling hesitant as to whether or not you want to give out your home phone number or address, give the person your MySpace address instead. It’s a safe way for you to communicate with as many people as you’d like. You’re giving the other person a chance to explore your page and learn a little bit more about you.
